NASA Space Science Student Ambassadors Program

NASA is seeking to engage university students, both undergraduate and graduate students, to conduct activities that are designed to encourage students to participate in NASA's Space Science educational activities and to help generate excitement about NASA scientific discoveries in space science.
Awards
- A stipend of $2,000 will be provided for conducting the recipient's proposed activities
- A reimbursement of up to $600 will be provided for materials, supplies, and travel expenses for the execution of their activities
Requirements
- Must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old as of January 1, 2010
- Full time student- graduate or undergraduate
- Participate in activities that align with the NASA Space Science goals "to offer an engaging astronomy experience to every person in the country, nurture existing partnerships, and build new connections to sustain public interested in space science" to help generate excitement
- Meet with the Space Grant Director or their designee to discuss your activities and the progress thereof
- Complete a final report on the activities that you conducted
- Student Ambassadors will be strongly encouraged to attend a mid-year Workshop organized by NASA, where they will be required to present their work either in the form of a poster or orally. NASA will provide a limited travel budget to defray some of the travel cost
Complete an online application by April 29, 2010

Commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing
Join the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium for a "Movie Night with NASA" to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo missions. There will be a free showing of two episodes from the award-winning HBO series "From the Earth to the Moon" on July 20th at 7:00pm at the Centre County/Penn State Visitors Center. Moon rocks will be available for viewing! Everyone is welcome! See the flyer for more information.

Announcing Fellowship and Scholarship Opportunities!

Space Grant Graduate Research Fellowship
The Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium will award two-year fellowships in the amount of $5,000 per year to at least fourteen outstanding students that promote graduate study leading to masters or doctoral degrees in the fields of science, mathematics, and engineering related to NASA research and development for the 2009-2011 academic years.
All eligible graduate students are invited to apply, with award emphasis on, but not limited to, the following colleges: Agriculture, Earth and Mineral Sciences, Engineering, Science, Health and Human Development, Intercollege Research Programs, and Education. Sylvia Stein Memorial Scholarship
The Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium will award two one-year undergraduate scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each. Awards will be given to full-time students at Penn State with outstanding academic records who will be juniors or seniors in fall 2009. Students must be U.S. citizens, enrolled in science, engineering, or mathematics and likely to pursue a career in an area of interest to NASA with demonstrated potential for graduate study.
