The Harriett G. Jenkins Predoctoral Fellowship Program (JPFP) increases the number of graduate degrees awarded to underrepresented persons (women, minorities, and/or persons with disabilities) participating in the STEM workforce, thereby eliminating the shortage of skilled workers.
NASA Marshall Space Grant Research (MSGR)

This 10-week internship provides mentored research experiences to undergraduate and graduate students. Last summer, MSFC hosted 18 MSGR interns, providing them hands-on experiences in various project offices, labs, and test facilities - from Engineering to Safety to Shuttle Propulsion, to Science and Mission Systems.
NASA Planetary Biology Internship Program

The aim of the Planetary Biology Program’s 8-week internship is to provide opportunities for graduate students to take part in planetary biology research at NASA centers and universities. The pursuit of such studies is expected to broaden the base of this new science by encouraging people in many different fields to take part. Students accepted in the PBI program will be expected to carry out research with a NASA-sponsored investigator for eight weeks usually during the summer months. Typical programs in which interns may become involved include: global ecology and remote-sensing; microbial ecology and bio-mineralization; advanced life support; origin and early evolution of life.
Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium Fellowship

Applications for PA Space Grant Fellowships will be available January. Fellowships will be awarded to students pursuing graduate studies at Penn State. Each fellow will receive a supplemental stipend of $5,000 for the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 academic years. Fellows are required to commit to 10 hours of outreach/mentoring activity per semester to encourage and promote K-12 students in the STEM fields of study.
Sylvia Stein Memorial Space Grant Scholarship

The Sylvia Stein Memorial Space Grant Scholarship is awarded to full-time students with an outstanding academic record enrolled in science, engineering, or mathematics. Students must be likely to pursue a career in an area of interest to NASA with demonstrated potential for graduate study. Typically, two $4,000 scholarships are awarded each academic year.

WISER (Women in Science and Engineering Research) and MURE (Minority Undergraduate Research Experience)

The WISER/MURE programs offer two semesters of supervised research experience relating to STEM disciplines. WISER provides research opportunities and mentoring to first-year women students and MURE is designed to support underrepresented minority students in science and engineering related fields while at University Park.

As an Educational Associate, you will have the opportunity to participate in a project related to one or more of NASA's missions. Education Associate appointments range in duration from 2–12 months.
